Vor einem Jahr war ich das letzte Mal in Kolumbien. Seither mache ich virtuelle Reisen mit Hilfe von Skype und Zoom dorthin, um mit den Freundinnen in Kontakt zu bleiben, und höre auch viele Podcasts aus Kolumbien. Einen dieser Podcasts habe ich auch bereits an dieser Stelle vorgestellt. Es handelt sich um Richard McColls wöchentliche Sendung ColombiaCalling.

Natürlich helfen auch Bücher, die Auseinandersetzung mit dem schwierigen und schönen Land weiterzuführen, ohne selbst vor Ort zu sein. Richard McColl hat im Sommer mit Hilfe seiner Follower eine Liste mit dem Titel „Required Reading Colombia“ zusammengestellt. Auch ich habe mich am Entstehen dieser Liste beteiligt. Ich gebe sie auch hier gerne wieder (McColls Seite hat leider keinen Repress-Button) und habe gleichzeitig alle die Titel farbig markiert, die ich selber bereits gelesen habe.

Es gäbe also noch viel zu lesen, aber wichtig ist auch der persönliche Fokus. Es ist sicherlich unverzichtbar, sich mit den Basisthemen „Drogenhandel“ und „Violencia“ gut auszukennen, um Kolumbien und seine Literatur besser zu verstehen. Gerade die tagtägliche Gewalt darf in dieser Zeit nicht vergessen werden. In den letzten beiden Jahren sind nämlich so viele politisch aktive Menschen wie schon lange nicht mehr in Kolumbien umgebracht worden. Leider berichten die grossen Medien immer weniger darüber. Ich finde aber, man darf Kolumbien auch nicht auf diese beiden Themen reduzieren. Ich kann beispielsweise die ganze Narcos-Literatur nicht mehr sehen.

Zwei Autoren könnten aus meiner Sicht etwas prominenter auf der Liste vertreten sein. Das sind Juan Gabriel Vázquez und Tomás González. Beide überzeugen mich inhaltlich wie auch stilistisch. Ich lese auch gerne die Bücher meines guten Freundes Memo Anjel. Leider werden seine aktuellen Bücher nicht mehr ins Deutsche übersetzt. Überhaupt gibt es in Medellín eine überaus lebendige literarische Szene, die sich durchaus einmal für eine Anthologie eignen würde.
